Purpose Month

Living Our Purpose

The food crisis in Canada is alarming. 34% of those relying on food banks nationally are children, although they represent only 19% of the population. Over one-in-four food banks located in larger urban centres saw their usage more than double compared to two years earlier (Food Banks Canada, 2021).

Purpose Month was established to help combat hunger in Canada by donating our time to charities focused on food security from coast to coast to coast. Through this inaugural initiative, we’re living our Purpose of connecting the world to share food and care for one another.

This initiative will support the Sysco Global Good campaign, which aims to generate $500 million USD worth of good in global communities by 2025.

Engaging Associates

Our goal is to mobilize associates from coast to coast to coast to volunteer 6,000 hours in support of food banks, community kitchens, breakfast clubs, and food rescues across the nation. Associates participating in Purpose Month will have a chance to be recognized in the Sysco Gives Back Volunteer Recognition Program, which celebrates and recognizes associates who donate their time to charitable organizations.

Supporting the Communities We Serve

We’ve partnered with organizations across the nation to combat hunger in local communities – and we’re grateful for their efforts in helping to feed our neighbours. As we reach out our helping hands and hearts, we know that our collaborative support creates real impact.
